Community Folk Dance! Sunday, February 22, 2026, 2:30-4:30 at the 7 Hills Event Center (1098 Jackson St, Dubuque). Dances called by Sue Hulsether and Live music by the Old Gray Cats! No registration necessary. Donations accepted at the door.
Sue Hulsether is a dance caller, teaching artist, and musician. Since 2003 she’s traveled from coast to coast to lead dances in dance halls, schools, barns, and community centers. Her calling repertoire includes squares, contras, circle dances, long-ways whole-set dances, and play parties. Dancing with thousands of school children each year, her artist-in-residence career has risen out of the skills she gained from over 10 years as an elementary music teacher. Sue recently published Join Up Hands, a book of simple and accessible longways, circle, and square dances. In addition, the book includes teaching tips, reference material and personal essays on the joy of dance. Join Up Hands companion CD is filled with dance-length tracks of lively old-timey music. When not travelling to call and dance, Sue spends her time growing food and cooking it for others to enjoy. She lives on a 20-acre farm in Wisconsin with her spouse and a crew of shy barn cats.
