As women, we intuitively understand cycles through our lived experience—nature and the seasons, birth and death, expansion and contraction. Our menstrual cycles are one layer within this larger web of rhythms, and they can serve as a powerful inner compass as we move through each month and through our lives.
This course is designed for women who are still in their cycling years and want to deepen their understanding of their menstrual cycle as a source of wisdom and self-awareness.
Together, we’ll explore the inner seasons of the menstrual cycle and use yoga, breath, and embodied practices to deepen our understanding of how our bodies naturally move through each phase. Rather than seeing the cycle as something to manage or overcome, we’ll explore it as a rhythm to listen to, learn from, and partner with.
This course is a chance to:
Explore how your energy naturally rises and falls throughout the month
Learn ways to adapt movement, rest, and activity to support each phase of your cycle
Cultivate a gentler, more intuitive relationship with your body—one that honors shifts in energy, mood, and focus
Discover simple practices you can carry into daily life
Explore the seasons of your menstrual cycle through a new narrative: a partnership to be cultivated rather than a problem to be solved
Create your own cycle-awareness chart to begin tracking and learning from your inner seasons
No prior experience with yoga or menstrual cycle awareness is needed—just a willingness to be curious, listen inward, and discover what your body has to teach you.

Mary Kay McDermott is the founder of Groundswell Joy Collective, an organization rooted in human connection, cyclical living, and the healing power of shared song, movement, storytelling, and ritual.
At 44, Mary Kay was astounded to discover that her menstrual cycle could be a partnership rather than a problem to be solved. After years of managing symptoms and trying to live as though she were in the “summer” of her cycle all month long, she began a journey of rediscovering her cycle and learning to honor its natural rhythms.
As a mother of a prepubescent daughter, she became passionate about changing the narrative around menstruation for the next generation. As a RYT-200 yoga instructor, she began exploring how the four inner seasons of the menstrual cycle could be embodied through yoga. Her understanding of cyclical living is informed by years of honoring the “outer seasons” through the Wheel of the Year with the Church of the Oak community, as well as through her experience living in rhythm with the seasons of the land during her years at St. Isidore Catholic Worker Farm.
Allegra Johnson is a 200-hour certified yoga teacher and mental health professional passionate about creating spaces where people can encounter inner peace. Drawing from her own transformative experience with yoga, as well as witnessing the power of mindfulness in her work as a counselor, Allegra seeks to equip and empower others to trust their inner wisdom and create meaningful transformation in their lives.
Allegra began exploring Menstrual Cycle Awareness as a way to support her emotional well-being and deepen her relationship with herself. Through this practice, she discovered a new way of living in partnership with the many cycles of life. She is passionate about sharing this wisdom with others and inviting them to cultivate a deeper awareness of their own rhythms, seasons, and inner knowing.
